One of the Brandenburg region's industrial and commercial centres, the town of Elsterwerda is always worth a visit. Discover the Hans Nadler gallery near the market square. Dating back to 1770, the carefully reconstructed timber-framed building hosts a permanent exhibition of paintings by the artist Hans Nadler, who was born in the town in 1879. The gallery has developed into the towns cultural centre and regularly hosts exhibitions and events. Other historic attractions include the St. Catharina church (built in 1718), the reconstructed town hall and the Postmeilensäule pillar (dating from 1738).
